Aquatherapy
Aquatic Physical Therapy, or Aquatherapy allows a patient or athlete to exercise in a controlled environment within a specially designed pool. The advantages of an aqueous environment include the reduction of gravitational forces and compressive stresses on the joints and soft tissue, the ability to optimize the patient's range of motion, and a decrease in patient pain levels. Another benefit of Aquatic Therapy is hydrostatic pressure, effectively counteracting edema (swelling). The result is improved healing and a rapid return to normalized function.
